Joe Walsh: Quite Lying

Congressman Joe Walsh told Obama to “quit lying.” Here, Walsh’s ex-wife tells Joe to “quit lying” about the child support he owes her. Walsh accused Obama of spending money like a drunken sailor, but Walsh is the one who spent money on vacations and his campaign while getting his condo foreclosed on, not paying his child support, or his campaign manager. Walsh also says he believes in “traditional marriage” and that studies show children are healthier when raised in home where a mother and father are present. Do as he says, not as he does.

Foreigner Watch

Made by Narco News, which hosts the School for Authentic Journalism. From the blurb: “Hard-hitting, investigative journalism that finds and profiles un-American activities around the world. Join us as we profile the deeply troubling movements against the Drug War currently recruiting extremist Mexicans. But don’t worry, they can’t fool Nancy Gunn.” I’m interviewed as a Mexpert.

Rick Perry Kills an Innocent Man & Covers it up/ Save Troy Davis

Rick Perry’s record number of executions drew applause at last week’s GOP debate. Among the 234– whoops, make that 235 as of today, it’s hard to keep up– killed under Perry was Cameron Todd Willingham, who received the death penalty for killing his three daughters by arson. Right before the execution, it was revealed that the science on which Willingham’s conviction was based was bogus. Perry ignored the revelation, executed Willingham, and then covered it up.  While the state of Texas rates number one in number of executions, Georgia is a close seven and even has its own executions of innocents under its belt! Georgia is gearing up to kill another one, Troy Davis. Davis has been on death row for 20 years for the 1989 murder of a Savannah police officer. The case against him rested on witness testimony but seven of nine key witnesses have recanted or changed their testimony, some alleging police coercion. Help save an innocent man and sign the petitions launched by Amnesty International,  the NAACPChange.org by Troy’s sister, and moveon.org

NY Marriage Equality Celebration Mash-Up: More than the YMCA

The New York State Senate’s vote to legalize marriage for all people (though dogs could very well be next, followed by dog-human marriage) has disastrous consequences for our world, our country, our state and especially New York City, which will now be flooded with gays. I saw that first hand when gays rushed from who knows where into New York’s Greenwich Village, converting it into a total gayborhood. Here is the celebration I caught with my very fancy camera and sophisticated shooting style (a flip camera I was too excited to hold very still for more than a second). But that’s not all! In all seriousness (please allow me to not be the funniest, most hilarious person in the world for a few seconds) as I was “filming,” I said to my friend, “I just need a moving and appropriate song to set this footage to*.” She suggested YMCA but I rejected the song as being much more grating and annoying than moving and appealing. (In all fairness, Village People, there’s no need to feel down for not making a more moving song and neglecting to think of future generations. I was once in your shoes and I know that all of your creative energies and juices went into the intricate choreography of the YMCA dance) The next morning I learned that masterful jockey of the discs, Marc Faletti, had made a perfect mash-up, which he generously allowed me to use. It keeps the great lyrics of the disco hit and removes the terrible disco hit music. So without further ado, here is the music video for More than a YMCA or It’s Fun to Stay at the More than a Feeling

A Non Violent (and funny!) Revolution in 2 minutes

Here’s a video we made at the School of Authentic Journalism, based on a hilarious but poignant talk from Ivan Marovic, one of the leaders of the Serbian movement that overthrew Milosevic. Though this particular story is from the 1990s and takes place in Serbia, the “dilemma action,” which is explained in the video, is useful in different contexts and timeless.
